Our Story

The Smart Girls Group is an online community dedicated to connecting, inspiring, and empowering girls worldwide with our motto: Be Smart. Share Smarts.

You are smart. You have your own talents, your own interests, and your own story. You can be a part of our story, too. But first, maybe we should introduce ourselves…

For Christmas, during her senior year in high school, Emily Raleigh wrote a book for her freshman sister Sophie about how to be her very best in high school, with everything from academics to health to happiness. It got Emily thinking; what if there was a place where girls could motivate each other? What if they could help each other succeed? And on January 1, 2012, Emily made a New Years Resolution: The Smart Girls Group. The goal was for The Smart Girls Group to be an online community dedicated to connecting, inspiring, and empowering girls from middle school to college worldwide to be their very best and in turn to help the world around them, using their own smarts.

The Smart Girls Group was built on this vision of true smarts. Our smarts, the real smarts, are not just the kind evaluated on report cards. We know you are all smart. We all just have different kinds of smarts. Maybe your smarts lie in your ability to create the perfect organization systems or your knack at capturing the perfect picture or your skill with a basketball. There is a difference, though, between having smarts and being a Smart Girl. The real Smart Girl is one who shares her knowledge with others. In doing so, we can make an impact on the world. 

We are all working to discover ourselves and become our best. Together, we will encourage each other. We believe that when provided the support, the inspiration, and the motivation, we can do more than ever thought possible. We can all become our very best Smart Girl. Our tools can be found on our Smart Spaces page. There you will find our programs and products, catered to every Smart Girl. As our community grows, so will our Smart Spaces.
